
Effective teaching gets students to learn concepts and materials by immersing them in an experience and allowing them to become experts. In the lecture model of instruction it is the teacher who demonstrates their understanding of the material,
never allowing students to show understanding-except on a test. Releasing this control and relying less on direct instruction can have huge rewards in terms of student engagement, involvement and understandings.

Since I strive to have students give me a "deliverable" regularly, I have devised my ABC's as: Always Be Creating. I firmly believe that when creating your own content you are using much higher order thinking skills than compiling or consuming others' work.
